We have been finding out about the nutrients in our food and which foods we should eat everyday and which we should save for treats (sometimes foods).
Sian from the Heart Foundation has been helping us to learn how to read nutrition labels on food packets. We practiced our skills at Pak n Save Porirua.
The supermarket gave us $120 voucher to plan and make a healthy shared lunch. We also got a FREE lunchbox each from the Heart Foundation - it will be useful to put our healthy snacks in!

Duffy Role Model Assembly
Today we were lucky to have a visit from the Duffy Role Model, Michael Leota and our Duffy School sponsor Julie Brooks with her dog Harry.
Andy and Kisayah were our student representatives to look after our guests and thank them for talking to us.
Michael talked about how he hated to read then one day when he was bored he started reading Harry Potter. He showed EFFORT AND PERSEVERANCE to get through the first few pages ... then he was into it!

Studio Pacific Architecture visit
Maraeroa Seniors (particularly our year 6) are generously sponsored by Studio Pacific Architecture. To say thank you we invited them to visit the school for a morning tea and to meet us all.
We sang some of our school songs then Va'a and Georgia gave a speech to introduce themselves and say welcome.
Stephen, Rebecca and Grant were really nice and talked to us about architecture and design. Stephen even showed us how to make a cool paper plane that looks like a crown!
Click here to check out their architecture work.
We really enjoyed meeting them and finding out about their work ... and having a long morning tea break!
